Video
The COAT & Review Approach encourages all medical & nursing staff to evaluate unwell patients using the same basic template used by experienced critical care clinicians. This structured method for approaching any unwell patient, prioritises supporting airway, breathing & circulation before moving on to the sometimes time consuming task of diagnosis. This helps staff who may be unaccustomed to dealing with compromised patients or who work in environments unsuited to acute resuscitation, make these patients safe even though it may not be clear what the underlying pathology is.
